N-Acetyl-D-Glucosamine (NAG)
N-acetylated form of D-glucosamine — a direct glycosaminoglycan precursor that bypasses the metabolic acetylation step required for glucosamine HCl or sulfate salts. Active at lower daily doses (typically 250–500 mg/day) than standard glucosamine (1,500 mg/day) and with a distinct mechanism of action in skin, gut, and joint tissues.
CAS Number
7512-17-6
Physical Form
White crystalline powder
Typical Assay
98–102% by HPLC (USP grade)

Shellfish (shrimp/crab shell chitin hydrolysis) or corn-fermentation (vegan)
Purpose and Key Benefits
Joint-support via direct GAG precursor pathway with lower daily-dose footprint than glucosamine salts. Beauty/skin-hydration positioning (common cosmetic active). Gut-mucin and intestinal-lining support. Dual use across joint, beauty, and digestive product lines.
